Darbee family papers, circa 1840- circa 1980 (bulk 1940-1980)

Includes business, personal, and family papers of Mrs. Annie Darbee (formerly Mrs. Annie Gooch), mostly within her lifetime from 1872-1956. Business records primarily relate to the family's flower shop in San Francisco, and many of the family papers consist of plans for the family mausoleum in San Mateo County, including plans drawn by Bernard Maybeck. Also includes papers of her son, Andrew, from 1950s-1970s, and the Gooch family bible.

Bernard Ralph Maybeck (1869-1957) studied architecture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Returning to New York, he worked for Carrere and Hastings. Maybeck sought his fortune out West in 1890, first in Kansas City, then in San Francisco. In 1890, Maybeck married Annie White, who became his office manager.
